Rhode Island Saint Ms at Mount St. Charles Academy joins forces to create Prep Hockey Conference (PHC)

Prominent hockey teams establish new league to elevate
players and programs within North America

Woonsocket, RI March 15, 2021 – After more than a year in the making, six leading men's preparatory hockey-playing institutions announce the establishment of the Prep Hockey Conference (PHC). The league is set to begin play in the 2021-2022 season.

The institutions are Culver Academies (Culver, Indiana), Northwood School (Lake Placid, New York), Rhode Island Saint Ms at Mount St. Charles Academy (Woonsocket, Rhode Island), Shattuck-St. Mary's School (Fairbault, Minnesota), South Kent School (Kent, Connecticut), and St. Andrew's College (Aurora, Ontario).

The league comprises institutions rich in history and tradition with a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence. They are like-minded in their goals and aspirations for the PHC, focusing on improving the overall student-athlete experience while building rivalries through healthy competition.

The PHC is committed to providing the best possible hockey experience for its players, fans, and stakeholders. The group plans to establish itself as the premiere prep hockey league in North America by setting the highest standards for competitiveness and maintaining a level of institutional investment that demonstrates a significant commitment to its hockey programs and facilities. The goal is to establish relationships within and beyond the hockey world that create a high degree of visibility and positive media exposure for the PHC, its programs, and its players.

“We are absolutely thrilled and honored to be included as a member program in the Prep Hockey Conference. Each program that makes up the PHC all have similar goals in mind for their hockey teams and their players. It is all about the developmental benefits for each player and each team and now with this 6 school alliance, exposure should be a premium as well. These are outstanding coaching staffs at each of these programs and its an absolute pleasure working and calloborating on ideas to create, build & promote our newly formed Prep League because we all have similar mindsets in what we want to get out of this. At the end of the day its all about the best interests for our players. This will be an ultra competitive League! Our players in our programs will be challenged and pushed to be at their very best every time we all play each other. Our league schedule and events we have planned with all 6 programs being in attendance in the same spot on the same weekend(s) should generate a lot of exposure to junior, NCAA & NHL scouts. This is what we hope to provide for our players and prepare them for the next step in their respective paths. We feel very fortunate to be a part of this conference and are very excited to get started with league play next year and build on the rich history and tradition of all the programs that make up the PHC”.
